Started with six rooms and one shared file cabinet
In 2014 three clinicians — an Ayurvedic physician, a general practitioner and a physiotherapist — rented a floor on Krishna Galli and agreed to keep one set of patient notes between them. It sounded administrative. It turned out to be the whole idea.
Twelve years on, Policlinic House runs six departments over two floors with an in-house laboratory, four Panchakarma therapy rooms and a team of twenty-four clinicians. The Sunday morning case review that started with three people around a table still runs every week.
We are a day clinic, not a hospital. We do not admit patients overnight and we do not handle emergencies. What we do is unhurried outpatient care, honest triage, and a clear referral when someone needs more than we can offer.
Meet the clinicians
Mission, vision and the values we are held to
Mission
To give every patient a single, coherent treatment plan — drawing on Ayurveda, modern medicine or both — and to explain it until it is understood.
Vision
A clinic in every district where the two traditions are practised side by side, with shared records and shared accountability.
Values
Say what the treatment can and cannot do. Keep appointments on time. Refer onward without ego. Protect the patient's privacy as if it were our own.
“Ayurveda earns its place by being useful, not by being old.”
I trained in Ayurveda in a decade when patients were often asked to choose a side. They would take a prescription from one clinic and a preparation from another, and neither practitioner knew what the other had written. The person in the middle carried the risk — and, occasionally, the interaction.
Policlinic House exists to remove that gap. Our physicians sit on the same floor, review difficult cases together on Sunday mornings, and write into one file. Where classical Ayurvedic treatment is the better route, we take it. Where it is not, we say so plainly and refer you onward — often to colleagues we trained alongside.
I am cautious about the language this field sometimes uses. Ayurveda is a system of medicine with a long clinical record and real limits, and a patient is better served by an honest boundary than an ambitious promise. You will not find the word “cure” on our walls.
What I ask of our team is simple: explain the plan until it is understood, keep the promise small enough to keep, and treat the person in front of you as someone with a life to get back to. If we have failed at that on any given day, I would rather hear it from you than not hear it at all.

What patients tell us
Sample reviews collected after discharge. Individual experiences and outcomes differ from person to person.
“I came in for back pain that had lasted most of a year. What I appreciated was that nobody promised a quick fix — the physiotherapist told me it would take around eight sessions, and explained what my part of the work was. It made the plan easy to stick to.”
Manish ShresthaPhysiotherapy · Lalitpur
“The Ayurveda consultation was longer and more thorough than I expected, and the doctor checked how everything would sit alongside the medication I already take. I left with a written plan in Nepali, which my mother could read too.”
Sunita RaiAyurveda OPD · Kathmandu
“Booked the annual health check for our whole team. Sample collection started on time, the reports arrived the same evening, and the physician walked me through what the numbers actually meant instead of just handing over a printout.”
Deepak BhandariPreventive health check · Bhaktapur
“Antenatal visits here felt unhurried. Appointments ran close to the time they were given, and questions never felt like an inconvenience. The reception team also helped with insurance paperwork without being asked twice.”
